Historical Background
Gadisa Lemi Humanitarian Organization (GLHO) is a legally registered, national NGO established on 14 December 2019 in Holeta, Oromia, Ethiopia, and formally registered by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Authority for Civil Society Organizations (EFDRE-ACSO) on 31 January 2020, Registration No.: 4741. Founded by five individuals, including two pioneering members, GLHO was created to address persistent socio-economic and protection challenges affecting vulnerable children and elderly people. The organization delivers rights-based, inclusive, and community-driven humanitarian and development programs, initially focusing on food security and education, and has since expanded to multi-sectoral interventions covering health, WASH, livelihoods, youth empowerment, disaster risk reduction, environmental sustainability, human rights, gender equality, social inclusion, partnerships, and organizational effectiveness.

GLHO has a dedicated operational team responsible for program implementation and organizational effectiveness. The current staff includes:
- Accountant: Oversees financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Coordinator: Ensures smooth execution of activities and communication between teams.
- Social Workers: Provide direct support and assistance to beneficiaries.
The GLHO operational team mobilizes resources and supports fundraising, conducts awareness and capacity-building activities, delivers humanitarian assistance, and monitors and reports on program outcomes. They also engage in community initiatives, including disaster relief and ecological sustainability, to ensure inclusive and impactful program delivery.
GLHO engages volunteers and community contributors to strengthen program implementation and outreach. They participate in field activities, awareness campaigns, and capacity-building initiatives, while also supporting income-generating and cultural projects. Volunteers help maintain transparency and community engagement, enhancing the organization’s ability to deliver inclusive, sustainable, and impactful programs.
GLHO works with a wide range of partners to enhance program effectiveness and achieve sustainable impact. Local NGOs and community-based organizations collaborate on development projects and capacity-building, while government agencies support social welfare, disaster response, and awareness initiatives. International organizations provide technical support, training, and funding, and academic and research institutions contribute evidence-based insights to guide programming.
GLHO also relies on supporters to strengthen its outreach and resource base. Individual members and corporate sponsors provide financial and in-kind contributions, community volunteers offer skills and local knowledge, and fundraising events mobilize additional resources. Together, partners and supporters help GLHO deliver inclusive, accountable, and sustainable programs with lasting community impact.
GLHO demonstrates strong commitment to transparency and accountability through the preparation and submission of quarterly and annual reports to government authorities and development partners. These reports provide comprehensive updates on program activities, financial performance, and progress toward strategic objectives. By maintaining consistent reporting practices, GLHO ensures responsible resource management, builds trust with stakeholders, and promotes evidence-based decision-making for sustainable impact.
